Patients who are fragile but who do not need critical care attention can find that they may be able to fly on a scheduled commercial flight. The advantage of this is that it is often less expensive than flying on a private air ambulance.
The patient must be able to sit up. Also, if the patient needs oxygen, that can be provided by the airline with 10 days advance notice.
We can provide a nurse or paramedic that has flight certification. They can accompany your family member or patient on the ground transportation to and from the airport, in the airport terminal, and on the commercial flight.
The medical director will call the presiding doctor, head nurse, or hospital to receive a medical briefing. We can then find out if we are able to help to put the patient onboard a scheduled commercial flight.
