Yes. Aircraft chartered on your behalf can transport patients who need basic care, are bedridden, or fragile. The aircrafts are equipped with a cross between an ICU(Intensive Care Unit) and a CCU(Coronary Care Unit). This means theyare equipped to care for a wide range of patients.
Many patients take a private air ambulance simply because they can not sit up. These patients may also have a fracture which makes them fragile for transport. In that case, it is best to keep the patient on a stretcher for the entire transport.
An air ambulance aircraft will also have a stretcher that is made up to look like a bed and specially approved by the FAA. This allows fragile patients to travel in comfort, with the least amount of moves and manouevers possible.
